Well, I am a follower of many Pinay beauty blogs and I read a lot about Lip Ice Mentholatum. I have chappy and uber dry lips. I tend to peel and bite the dry skin off my lips making it even drier than the Sahara Desert. I admit I am lazy to put on lip balm but this one got me curious and last December 23, I bought all variants [except the lip glosses] available at SM Department Store - Bacoor. There are so many raves about this brand and this post is solely dedicated to the Lip Ice Mentholatum Sheer Color.

Yay:

Cheap! At less than Php130 [approximately US$2.88) pesos a pop, you can never go wrong.
Readily available - I will not have problems if I run out of it. SM Bacoor is just a tricycle ride away! I don't have to bring my *ss to Glorietta or Rustan's.
I la-la-la-love the smell! I am not a fan of scentless stuff. The smell of Lip Ice Mentholatum Sheer Color makes me hungry!
I like the packaging. It's so cute! It's pink! It looks sturdy as well.
It moisturizes my lips and gives it a hint of color that I really like.

Nay:

The content of the tube is only half the size of the tube. If you are familiar with Joppa Minerals Lip Color Samples, they are about the same size. Not really an issue with me though other people may find this a minus.

So, will I buy this again? Definitely but I want to finish the other Lip Ice Mentholatum tubes that I bought! This particular tube will last me at least 1-2 months of everyday use. =]

Hello Everyone,

For the nth time, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been through a lot - work wise that is. For months, I literally just went home to sleep (except for the occasional vacation leaves and sick leaves). Anyway, since my last update, I am happy to tell you that I have accumulated somewhat a huge amount of beauty items.

The good thing about being a corporate slave is that I can buy make-up (not the high-end ones - I am not in THAT position yet.) almost every payday. I have also discovered some drugstore brand products that are really cheap and good. I find myself hauling nail polishes from time to time.

I have a LOT of products up for review. I want to make this blog alive come 2011. That gives me what? a week to organize my thoughts. =)

Skincare:

1. How many times do you wash your face daily?

twice. =) Before going to work and before going to sleep.

2. What skin type do you have?
Oily.

3. What is your current facial wash?
Pond's White Beauty Facial Wash and/or Pond's Flawless White Facial Wash - whichever is available.

4. Do you exfoliate?
Yup. At least 2x a week.

5. What brand do you use?
Himalaya Herbals Walnut Almond Gentle Scrub.

6. What moisturizer do you use?
Olay Natural Radiance Day Cream.

7. Do you have freckles?
None.

8. Do you use eye cream?
No. But I will try to use Avon's ANEW. =)

9. Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Not anymore. I used to have pimple-infested face when I was a highschool frosh.

10. Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Nope.

Make Up:

11. What foundation do you use?
Currently trying to finish up adorned with Grace's foundation in Kindness 4.5! I love mineral foundations! I also use MAC Studio Fix Plus Powder Foundation for touch ups or whenever I feel like using it.

12. How about concealer?
Elianto Concealer #3. =) Very good for only Php399.

13. Do you know your undertone color?
I have peach undertones.

14. What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I don't know. I haven't tried putting them on nor touching them.

15. Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
I do. But I am guilty of using mascaras that are over 3 months old.

16. What brand of mascara do you use?
Maybelline Volum Express mascara.

17. Sephora or MAC?
I'd go for MAC. But I love my Sephora Color box too! The blushes are absolutely gorgeous.

18. What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Brushes. Yes, just brushes. Haha.

19. Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes. But I do not put E/S quite often.

20. For the face?

This is a must. I feel weird when I put foundation without priming first. I use MAC Prep and Prime Skin Enhancer Illuminateur De Teint in Neutralize. I have used other primers in the past such as TFS Hydro Splash and TFS Quick and Clean. =)

21. What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Office friendly colors!

22. Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Pencil and gel liners only. No to liquid eyeliner.

23. How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

Haven't poked my eyes yet and hopefully never.

24. What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?

Love love love. MMU eyeshadows come in loose powder type so...

25. Do you use mineral makeup?
Yup. =)

26. What is your favorite lipstick?

Mac Hug Me and NARS Dolce Vita.

27. How about lipgloss?
MAC Lipglasses. =)

28. What is your favorite blush to use?

Nars Orgasm but I think I will love Colorscience more.

Haven't tried.

Nope.

I try not to be.

When you use foundation that doesn't match your skin tone and when you have applied too much makeup you look like a clown e.g. uber dramatic eyes + uber dramatic cheeks + uber dramatic lips = uber clown.

34. Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
either neutral eyes and colorful lips or colorful eyes and neutral lips.

Almost all the time.

I know I have been saying this for the past months but never really SERIOUSLY committed to NO BUY MODE AND PROJECT 10 PAN (12 in my case).

But K's post on Shopaholic(ism) made me realize that I have the same problem to face and conquer. Out of the twelve signs of Compulsive spending, I got ELEVEN. This is serious and I have only realized it now. My credit card is maxed out and I do not have a REAL savings account.

I have found out that I have enough cosmetics to last me two lifetimes yet I do not have a back-up supply of my shampoo and I am asking for soap from my Ate (Big Sister). Talk about priorities. I have a problem in setting my priorities. Ask me if I'd rather buy that make-up I saw at the store or pay my credit card and phone bills - I would probably choose make-up. BUT NOT TODAY.

So I am officially (for the nth time) and seriously COMMITTING TO A NO BUY MODE AND PROJECT 12 PAN. Below is the list of the products that I intend to finish up:

MY HUMBLE MAKE-UP STASH.

This is my beloved make-up stash. I started becoming interested with make-up particularly mineral make-up just last February of 2009. So yeah, these goodies were purchased in 2009 - I haven't bought a single make-up item yet this 2010 except for the Life and Companion brushes (Php24.75 each at Landmark).

I bought this 5-layer drawer at SM Bacoor's Department Store for Php550 ($12?). I love it because it's big, it PERFECTLY fits in my cabinet (see picture below) and it's PINK! <3

This is the first drawer. It contains all my full-sized mineral eyeshadows mostly from Joppa, MMU blushes in 10g jars from adorned with Grace and Joppa, Earthen Glow, Lumiere, EDM and MAD Minerals samples, Dreamworld's whipped cremes, Joppa foundation in 10g jars. I also believe I have one PAC eyeshadow there which I got as a freebie.

This is the second drawer. It holds my full-sized mineral foundations. The jars with maroon and white covers are from Everyday Minerals. They are mostly blushes. The jars with clear lids are from Joppa Minerals. I hoarded when they had a grab bag sale. Hence, my lifetime supply of their foundations which unfortunately, one or two are not my shades. But then, I can still mix them up to get the perfect shade.

For reference: I am an NC42 in MAC. Evelyn in Earthen Glow's Youthful Glow Foundation, Ammonite/Cool Copper/Toffee/Medium Tan in Joppa Minerals, Kindness 4.5/Faith 4.2 in adorned with Grace, Oya in Dreamworld's Luna Foundation.

There's an Eyeko Tinted Cream there, some Joppa blushes in 20g jars, adorned with Grace foundations and powders, and my beloved Earthen Glow foundations. I also see LauRess and Pure Luxe items in there.

Now, this is the third layer where you will not see a single MMU product (is MAC Mineralized SF considered MMU?). This is where I put my one and only mascara - Maybelline Volum' Express in Brown, my Maybelline pressed powder, 4U2 blushes/eyeshadow, Avon Magix, LA Colors Palette, my only gel liner, ELF stuff, MAC blushes, Studio fix, and Mineralized SF. In the blue pencil case are my Ever Bilena stick foundation which I always try to use as an eyeshadow primer, some Careline eye sticks for primer, and samples in jar from Sephora.

Fourth layer contains my three BB creams from The Face Shop, Charm travel pro brush set, my 5-pc Ecotools brush set, and my lipglasses, lipsticks, and lip balms. I love NYX round lipsticks - I just hoarded twenty tubes recently from Mscuppycakes.com - and I am planning to get more soon. They're cheap yet they work good!

Last layer contains my Dollface Cosmetics palettes and my Nichido deluxe palette. There are also two kabuki brushes inside kabaggies in there because they won't fit inside the fourth layer.

My brushes

I hauled EDM brushes last year. You can see stippling brushes in there which I consider my major brush. I use stippling brushes more often than any other brush.

There was a time when I grew tired of MMU samples in baggies so I transferred them to a cheapo medicine case which I bought in Landmark Makati for Php30 each.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'M BACK!

Hello there! Yes, it’s me! I haven’t updated my blog for quite some time obviously. LOL. So, what’s up with me? I was busy with oDesk – just found out that it is a good (GREAT) source of extra income. I have been working as a freelance article writer. I write about different stuff. Stuff I haven’t even heard of! LOL. Good thing my clients pay me well.

Anyhoo:

Contrary to my no-buy mode, I have actually bought a lot of make-up and non-make-up goodies during my blogging hiatus. I do not know where to start. I was able to get hold of different palettes from Dollface Cosmetics, Elianto Cream Concealer, a brown gel liner, Life and Companion eye shadow blending brushes, two stippling brushes from Hong Kong (love love love!), Avon Magix Tinted Face Protector, Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation (whew), loads of Nyx round lipsticks and a lot more that I cannot remember right now. I aim to give you a quick (super quick!) review on each of them if possible.

I am planning to show you my new make-up organizer/drawer which I found at SM Department Store. It’s cute. It’s not that expensive. Most of all, it’s pink! Please do not laugh at my measly makeup collection. There are only a bunch of expensive (well, MAC is expensive for me.) items in my stash. I am a sucker for bargains, you know. Lol. So yeah, watch out for the photos.

I know I promised to host another giveaway before I went on my unexpected hiatus. Sorry but I will not be able to have giveaways right now. Due to lack of... er... financial sources, I will not be able to do that in a while. As a matter of fact, I am trimming down my makeup stash to stuff that I can actually use and get some money back for those items that I cannot by selling them. LOL.

My colored hair:

Yes, after eleven or twelve years, I had my hair colored! The first time I had my hair color altered was when I was in Grade Six and it was done at home. Last December 18, I went to David’s Salon originally for a simple hair cut – but ended up having my hair color treated. The senior stylist suggested that I chose a shade of mahogany (or was it burgundy?) which I did because I really want to have my hair reddish brown. What turned out to be 20-minutes became 1 and ½ hours of coloring! My hair was so stubborn that it refused to alter colors. LOL. The hair stylist kept asking me if I use blackening shampoo. I said no. He had to put the “mixture” three times just to have a hint of reddish brown on my hair! =/ I don’t know but I would like to try other salons if not, do it myself at home. I’ll probably try to undergo another color treatment after two to three months. For now, I am just using Loreal Elseve Color Care line and I think it works great!

My Permed Eyelashes after 26 days

Swatches: MAD Minerals Pigments and a couple of foundies

Barbie of M*A*D Minerals is such a sweet lady. She insisted on sending me a 20-pc sampler of their pigments FOR FREE! I couldn't say no, of course. Who would? Anyway, here are the swatches and I really apologize for the blah camera skills. Hehe.

L-R: Satin Glow and Flash Glow

Up: Satin Glow
Down: Flash Glow

The difference is not really obvious in pictures (or maybe because of my camera phone) but in real life, you can see the little glitters in Flash Glow. Satin Glow reminds me of adorned with Grace's Supreme Smoothing Powder.

First Row: Desert Cactus, Chartreuse, Be Kind, Quiet Storm, Kunzite, Moondance
Second Row: Eminence, Ponder, Fireside, Modest Pink, Lolita, Canyon Clay
Third Row: Wild Mango, Eroticism, Aurora, Coralee

They are really pigmented as hell and I only needed a little bit of the product to achieve the great color pay-off below. I only used the bits of powder that were on the jar lids. Oh, yeah, btw, the samples are REALLY generous. I probably couldn't finish these even if I wear them everyday since you only need a minuscule amount .

L-R: MAC Studiofix Powder Plus Foundation NC42, Medium-Tan Golden, Medium Golden
I used The Face Shop's Hydro Splash BB Cream as base. NC42 seems to be on the pink side but it's not really obvious in real life. Actually, medium-tan golden and NC42 look the same under natural light.

What I like:
1. Very pigmented
2. Affordable (even if you pay for it! =P)
3. Generous sample size
4. Fast TAT (i received a shipping notice from Stamps.com within 2 days from order placement)

What I don't like:
1. The jars cause minor spillage. Pigments tend to settle on the lids which is also the same with other mineral make-up. It's because of the jars! But I can live with it. =)
2. NOTHING MORE!

Will I buy again? Yes - that is when I finish these babies (which would take me forever). I'll probably purchase other shades. =)
